School is out and the kids are getting bored. It’s hot! I’m bored! I don’t have anything to do! This is typically heard a few weeks after school has been out. So what can you do? Suggest your child make some extra money over the summer. Give them suggestions on starting their own business and see what they do with it. They could mow lawns (if age appropriate) , or pet sit for those that are going to be out for the day or for vacation. Sell lemonade, Baby-sit, have a yard sale of their toys. Walk Dogs or Bath dogs. Take the neighbors’ garbage cans to the road every week and back to the house after the garbage has ran. Pull weeds. There are millions of these small tasks that people have that most would love to have help with if it is for the right price.

Once your child has decided what service that they want to offer they will be ready to get started. They can make up their own flier to advertise their business. Your child could go door to door in your neighborhood. They will need to have a business name,  set prices and decide what they are offering as a service. Of coarse you will need to go over this with your child to make sure it is ok.

Your child will get to think and plan on this; Make some money to maybe rent a game at the end of the week or see a movie. He will learn responsibility and take pride in what he is doing. Maybe just maybe they will not be quite so bored this summer. Don’t tell your child but along the way they may stretch their mind and learn a thing or two along the way.
